Near Obukhivka in the Dnipro district, a fisherman was caught using illegal fishing methods, specifically poaching, in the Dnipro Reservoir on January 25, as reported by "Vydomo" citing the Dnipro Fish Protection Patrol.
By the time the man was apprehended, he had already caught 66 flounders, five roaches, and one bream. The total weight of the caught fish amounted to 10 kg.
This catch caused a damage of 112,693 hryvnias to aquatic biological resources.
An administrative protocol was drawn up against the poaching fisherman under part 4 of Article 85 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses.
The investigative-operational group of the National Police was also called to the scene. Currently, the question of initiating criminal proceedings under Article 249 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — illegal fishing, hunting, or other aquatic resource extraction — is being considered.
It is noted that the fishing gear was seized by the investigator, and the fish were released back into their habitat.
