A con artist was apprehended in Synelnykove for cunningly obtaining methadone from two medical facilities.

The investigative department of the Synelnykove district in the Dnipropetrovsk region has charged a 42-year-old resident of the city with committing a series of fraudulent actions related to the illegal acquisition of narcotic drugs. This was reported by "Vidomo".

The man, who was undergoing substitution maintenance therapy (SMT), utilized deception and forgery to obtain prescriptions for medications containing methadone from two different medical institutions in Dnipro. The investigation revealed that his criminal activities lasted for over a year.

The fraud scheme was meticulously planned. The perpetrator initially entered into a contract to receive methadone-containing medications at one of the specialized narcological centers in Dnipro, registering with forged documents. Subsequently, he approached another medical institution and, by deceiving the medical staff, entered into a similar contract—fully aware that this was prohibited.

The suspect somehow evaded all standard checks.

During the investigation, law enforcement agencies from the Synelnykove Police Department conducted interviews with medical personnel, analyzed medical documentation, checked pharmacy records, and examined the suspect's financial transactions. All prescriptions issued to the man were also reviewed, determining the frequency and quantities of the medications he received, which allowed for an assessment of the scale of his illegal activities.

Investigators gathered irrefutable evidence of more than 50 instances of fraud. The suspect is charged under Article 308 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – "Fraud," which carries a penalty of imprisonment for a term of five to ten years.
