The conversation was dedicated to Student Day, celebrated on November 17.
"Our country's struggle for life has been ongoing for nearly 1,000 days. And this fight is not just about Ukraine. It concerns you, each of you who values freedom, the right to choose your own path, and a future without war. What this future will look like depends on each of us today – people living in different corners of the world but sharing a common understanding of concepts such as freedom and justice," said Zelensky.
In the Office of the President of Ukraine, it was noted that the head of state informed students about the war in Ukraine to help Colombian youth better understand "what modern Russia is" and the nature of its war.
"This is an attempt to restore a colonial empire, to enslave our people, to take away our freedom and right to choose. Colombians, who have experienced the struggle against colonialism, know what this means. They understand how brutal invaders can be, how they try to break your resistance, and how crucial it is to fight for your freedom and the right of every nation to live independently and preserve its identity," explained Zelensky.
According to his press service, they also discussed the Ukrainian peace formula, the possibility of ending the war, NATO's support for Ukraine, and the involvement of the aggressor country, Russia, in bringing North Korean troops into the war against Ukraine.
"Two countries are against us, against Ukraine. And we would very much like NATO to move from words to actions and strengthen Ukraine. We would greatly appreciate the opportunity to use long-range weapons against military targets on Russian territory," stated the President of Ukraine.
