When asked about the various statements made by members of Trump's team regarding potential negotiations on Ukraine, Zelensky responded that "there are different voices in the circle of every president, each fulfilling specific tasks."
"Sometimes we may not even understand why they do this. In some cases, they are gauging the reactions of their own society and others with whom they need to negotiate [...] In other instances, it might be a personal expression from someone in the circle, trying to draw attention to themselves or perhaps even to Trump," the president added.
Zelensky emphasized that he would take discussions seriously only with Trump, but noted that he has not yet been inaugurated and cannot participate in all geopolitical processes—"to put a period on something."
"Our teams will work to prepare for a meaningful meeting. Regarding specific lines and how the United States views this, along with how we respond to their perspective, I will be able to share that […] after a substantive meeting with President Trump, when he holds all his powers," the Ukrainian president stressed.
