He mentioned that he held a meeting with the Director General of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi.
"Currently, the relevant IAEA missions are operating in Ukraine – at the nuclear power plants, and we agreed that the missions will be more active at other critically important energy system facilities. We spoke with Mr. Grossi about Ukrainians – about our citizens, about the hostages taken by Russian occupiers from Enerhodar. We expect the IAEA to be proactive in working towards the release of these Ukrainian citizens," noted Zelensky.
The President expressed gratitude to Grossi for his support of Ukraine's strategy for the completion of nuclear blocks at the Khmelnytskyi NPP.
"The completion project is key to Ukraine's energy independence and the energy stability of the region, and it is important that Ukrainian lawmakers support this project," pointed out Zelensky.
According to him, he and Grossi also discussed the situation at the Zaporizhzhia NPP.
"It is necessary to restore legitimate Ukrainian control and the real operation of the plant in Ukraine and for Ukraine. We invite our partners to work with us in this direction. These are mutually beneficial things – energy that will significantly strengthen Europe and make our relations with America much more advantageous," concluded Zelensky.
