The President of the United States Donald Trump stated that Ukraine "should not have fought" against Russia.
He made this comment during an interview with Fox News.

In the interview, Trump mentioned that Volodymyr Zelensky should have "struck a deal" with the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to prevent the war.
"Zelensky was fighting against a much larger force, a much larger, much more powerful one. He shouldn't have done that because we could have made a deal,” he said.
"But Zelensky decided that 'I want to fight,'" Trump added.
The American president also remarked that Zelensky is "not an angel" and that he "should not have allowed this war" to happen.
It is worth noting that earlier, before the presidential elections, Trump had already placed the blame on Zelensky for the start of the war, stating that he should have prevented it "by all possible means."
Recently, Trump urged Putin to end the war and to reach a peace agreement with Ukraine. Otherwise, he warned, the U.S. would impose new sanctions and tariffs. The U.S. President also called on Saudi Arabia and OPEC to lower oil prices so that Putin would not have the means to continue the war.
