The video recording was published on the Telegram channel "We are Ukraine".
According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian side has proposed from the very beginning of the ZNPP occupation that Ukrainians work at the station under the supervision of the IAEA and that there be no Russian militants on its territory, but the Russian side opposed.
The president shared that the previous U.S. administration suggested Ukraine cease attacks on Russian energy facilities – oil refineries. In response, the Ukrainian side proposed that the aggressor country, Russia, also halt its strikes on Ukrainian energy, Zelensky added.
"I communicated all of this openly with other leaders. And the Americans told me: 'Yes, we are ready [for the proposal] not to strike at energy on both sides.' But this did not happen because Russia is not interested," the president informed.
As Zelensky pointed out, the ZNPP is currently not operational, as there is no "fair and professional management from Ukraine."
"It is not functioning, it is degrading, and it is very dangerous. In any case, the issue of the Zaporizhzhia station will be raised at the first diplomatic meeting of the parties," the president of Ukraine concluded.
