The Anti-Corruption Center announced that NABU has opened a case against Umerov.

On January 27, the Anti-Corruption Center announced on Facebook that, following a statement from the Center, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine has opened a case regarding alleged criminal activities by Defense Minister Rustem Umerov.
Центр противодействия коррупции сообщил, что НАБУ открыло дело против Умерова.

"Thus, the actions of the minister may constitute a crime under part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (abuse of power or office)," the message states.

The CPC noted that on January 24, Umierov "in violation of the law" refused to comply with the decision of the supervisory board of the Defense Procurement Agency to extend the contract with the director of AOZ, Marina Bezrukova, for another year.

Additionally, Umierov dismissed two members of the supervisory board who supported this decision, Taras Chmut and Yuriy Dzhyhir, the CPC added.

"We are confident that he will have to answer for these actions, and NABU must thoroughly investigate the motives and consequences of the minister's decisions," the CPC indicated.
