The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, dismissed the possibility of mobilizing students, postgraduates, and educators.
The statement was published on his Facebook account.
Recently, information regarding the potential mobilization of these categories of conscripts was shared by MP Roman Hryshchuk.
“There is no mobilization planned for students, postgraduates, researchers, or educational staff who are entitled to deferment in accordance with the Law of Ukraine on Mobilization Preparation and Mobilization. No discussions or debates on this matter are taking place at the government level,” the minister explained.
According to him, any discrepancies that arise in various documents will be addressed in accordance with the current mobilization law.
It is worth noting that today MP Hryshchuk announced that a new Cabinet resolution, which came into effect on January 16, contains inaccuracies related to the mobilization of educators and students.
He stated that students and postgraduates are granted a deferment for only one semester, but not exceeding six months, while educators receive deferment until the end of the academic year. Hryshchuk later clarified that the government is already aware of the situation and appropriate changes will be made to the resolution shortly.
Additionally, on January 21, the “Reserve+” program reinstated deferments for students, postgraduates, and doctoral candidates.
Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense explained what would happen to students who do not pass the exam on Basic Military Training.
