The Ukrainian military has indeed received permission to use long-range missiles ATACMS against targets on Russian territory.
This was announced by John Kirby, a communications advisor for national security at the White House, during a briefing.
He confirmed that the day before, the Ukrainian Armed Forces used ATACMS to attack facilities in the Kursk region.
“They (the Ukrainians – ed.) can use ATACMS for self-defense in cases of urgent necessity. And now, as we see, this is happening in Kursk and its surroundings,” Kirby stated.
He added that the White House has “modified instructions and issued directives” that Ukraine may use long-range missiles “to hit specific types of targets.”
It is worth noting that on November 17, media reported that U.S. President Joe Biden had authorized the use of long-range ATACMS missiles by Ukraine against Russian territory for the first time.
Recently, it became known that ATACMS ballistic missiles destroyed an air defense system in the Kursk region of Russia. The media also learned how many ATACMS missiles Ukraine might currently possess.
