Kiev will not allocate budget funds for the organization and arrangement of New Year locations. However, the main Christmas tree of the country may still be set up.
This was announced by the press service of the Kyiv City State Administration (KGGA).
“No mass celebrations, such as fairs, food courts, and attractions in the main squares, are planned in the capital. However, to ensure that Kyiv residents, especially children, are not left without a festive mood, it is possible to arrange a New Year tree on Sophia Square funded by patrons, as in previous years,” the statement said.
The KGGA reported that a private organization has already approached them with proposals to set up the New Year tree and decorations, which they already have at their disposal. This organization is also ready to take on the installation and maintenance of the main New Year tree, including all resource and financial support.
The authorities of Kyiv will not hold mass events for the New Year celebrations. However, the New Year tree on Sophia Square will be installed if this decision is approved by the City Defense Council.
“After all, the traditional New Year tree is not just a symbol of the holiday, but a strong support for the emotional mood of Kyiv residents during this challenging time,” the KGGA emphasized.
The New Year design project for the location has already been developed.
Recall that last year, the main tree in Kyiv was also set up with the help of patrons. It was lit on St. Nicholas Day, December 6, on Sophia Square.
