The elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, will soon appoint a special representative for Ukraine who will "lead negotiations to end the war with Russia."
Sources informed Fox News about this.
"You will see a very high-ranking special envoy, a person of great authority, tasked with finding a solution and achieving a peaceful settlement," one of the sources said.
It is expected that this role will be unpaid; from 2017 to 2019, Kurt Volker served as the special representative for Ukrainian negotiations on a voluntary basis.
Recall that earlier the Financial Times reported on Trump's plan to end the war in Ukraine. One of the advisors mentioned that this could involve a "reconsideration of the Minsk agreements."
As reported by WSJ, Trump's advisors are suggesting he freeze the war in Ukraine along the current front line, as well as suspend negotiations regarding Ukraine's NATO membership.
President Volodymyr Zelensky stated before the U.S. elections that Trump would not be able to force Ukraine into potential territorial concessions to end the war.
