"The mafia of intermediaries is making billions by selling medicines to Ukrainians at twice the price of European market rates," emphasized Tymoshenko.
According to her, a corrupt model for the distribution of medical products operates in Ukraine, supported at all levels of government. The MP noted that there are two monopolistic intermediaries working between the manufacturing plants and pharmacies. They purchase about 80% of all products, creating an artificial shortage and inflating prices for medications. Tymoshenko plans to tackle this issue within the framework of the investigative commission, which, in her opinion, will be able to control prices in pharmacies and eliminate the intermediaries' monopoly.
"We plan to hold the first meeting of the commission in the coming days. Together, we will find out why prices in our pharmacies are higher than those in European pharmacies," reported the leader of "Batkivshchyna."
She also emphasized that the commission will work on creating a draft law aimed at significantly reducing drug prices.
Tymoshenko has already raised the issue of inflated drug prices on her YouTube channel, where she shared her vision for solving this problem.
