The newly elected President of the United States Donald Trump is considering Richard Grenell, the former intelligence chief, for the position of special envoy for negotiating peace in Ukraine.
This was reported by Reuters, citing sources familiar with the plans of his transition team.

It is noted that Grenell, who previously served as the US ambassador to Germany and briefly as the acting Director of National Intelligence from 2017 to 2021, could play a pivotal role in Trump's efforts to end the conflict, should his appointment take place.
According to sources, this position currently does not exist, but Trump is seriously considering the possibility of creating it. However, a final decision has yet to be made, and it is possible that Grenell may decline this role.
During his election campaign, Trump promised to swiftly end the war, although a specific plan of action remains unknown. At the same time, some of Grenell's statements may raise concerns among Ukrainian leadership. In July, he suggested the creation of "autonomous zones" as a way to resolve the conflict and opposed Ukraine's immediate accession to NATO.
Despite this, Grenell's supporters highlight his extensive diplomatic experience and knowledge of European affairs. He has also previously served as the special envoy of the US president in negotiations between Serbia and Kosovo.
No comments have yet been received from Grenell on this matter, and spokesperson for Trump's transition team, Carolina Levitt, noted that all personnel decisions will be announced directly by the president.
It is worth recalling that it was previously reported that the elected US president Donald Trump will soon appoint a special representative for Ukraine, who will "lead negotiations to end the war with Russia."
Additionally, it is known that Donald Trump plans to bring both sides to the negotiating table in order to end the war between Russia and Ukraine.
