"Putin's statements regarding the legitimacy of the Ukrainian president are absurd. Over the quarter-century of Putin's rule in the Kremlin, Ukraine has seen three presidents elected through honest elections, while President [U.S. Donald] Trump has returned for a second term after a stunning electoral victory. This is what democracy and legitimacy look like," wrote Sibiga.
The Ukrainian diplomat emphasized that "instead, Putin has usurped power, trampled on the Russian constitution, killed or imprisoned all opponents, destroyed independent media, organized a fictitious vote for himself, and remains in power longer than [Soviet dictator Joseph] Stalin."
"Now this man lectures the world on legitimacy. Leave us alone," Sibiga stated.
According to him, "Putin's statements are lies created to mislead foreign leaders and audiences," and "only fools can believe them."
"If anyone's legitimacy is in question, it is that of the dictator in Moscow, who turns 20-year-old men—born when he was already in power—into cannon fodder," Sibiga believes.
