Уже 538 украинцев, пострадавших от сексуального насилия во время войны, обратились за репарациями. Из них больше мужчин.

More than 500 Ukrainians who suffered from sexual violence during the war have applied for reparations (payments) under a pilot project. Over 300 individuals have received payments.

This was reported by the Government Commissioner for Gender Policy and Chair of the Supervisory Board of the pilot project, Yekaterina Levchenko, as conveyed by Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday, November 14.

"As for the applications, there are already 538, including: 303 men, 224 women, 2 boys, and 9 girls. In this case, we are talking about children under 28 years old,” Levchenko stated.

According to her, the identification committee has processed 308 applications to date, for which interim reparations have already been paid: 150 for women, 157 for men, and 1 for a boy.

Additionally, 57 applications do not meet the criteria of the project, as no evidence of sexual violence related to the conflict was found.

Another 121 applications are under review.

The highest number of applications came from Kherson and the surrounding area – 147 applications. Donetsk and the region ranked second with 51 applications. Kyiv region is in third place with 32 applications, followed by Kharkiv region with 27, Zaporizhzhia and the region with 18, Luhansk region with 12, Mykolaiv region with 5, Chernihiv region with 8, Crimea with 3, and the territory of the Russian Federation with 2.

The project provides for the payment of interim reparations to victims of sexual violence in the amount of 3,000 euros for each person.

Recall that the Office of the Prosecutor General reported that up to 90% of the Armed Forces of Ukraine soldiers faced torture or sexual violence while in captivity. According to the OGP, the number of domestic violence cases has increased by 80%.
