According to Tikhiy, the German side reported that it intends to speak with Putin.
"However, even if the German Chancellor did not express positions during the conversation that contradicted those of Ukraine, talks with the Russian dictator themselves provide no added value in achieving a just peace," the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted.
Tikhiy emphasized that "lengthy discussions are a resource that Putin has been utilizing for over 20 years to pursue his interests."
"Currently, conversations only give Putin hope for a reduction in international isolation," the spokesperson for the Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs pointed out. "What is needed are specific strong actions that will compel him towards peace, rather than negotiations and attempts at appeasement, which he interprets as a sign of weakness and exploits for his own purposes. The specific actions are well known – and they primarily involve the withdrawal of the occupier's troops from Ukrainian territory."
