The court in Dnipro has re-evaluated the preventive measure for the people's deputy Nikolai Tishchenko, who is suspected of unlawfully depriving a war veteran of freedom.
This was reported by Suspilne.
According to the court's decision, Tishchenko will remain under round-the-clock house arrest for the next two months.
The prosecutor requested the reassessment of the preventive measure, stating that there are certain risks, as Tishchenko might evade law enforcement and pose a threat to witnesses.
The deputy was present at the hearing via video link, while another accused, former police officer Bohdan Pysarenko, attended the court in person.
Tishchenko's lawyer explained that the deputy could not travel to Dnipro as he was already under house arrest according to a ruling from the Pechersk Court of Kyiv and had "valid reasons" for not attending the court sessions.
It is worth noting that the State Bureau of Investigations informed Tishchenko of the suspicion on June 25 of last year under part 2 of Article 146 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (unlawful deprivation of liberty or kidnapping). The case relates to events in Dnipro on June 20 of the same year, where a group of individuals allegedly attacked a former military man on the deputy's orders. In November, the Pechersk District Court of Kyiv extended the preventive measure for the deputy until December 23, 2024.
However, on December 23, Tishchenko did not appear at the court hearing. He explained to the court that on the morning of December 23, he sought medical attention in Kyiv, where he was allegedly preliminarily diagnosed with ischemic heart disease.
At the same time, in early January, Tishchenko appeared at a parliamentary session. Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk stated that the deputy participated in the session legally.
On January 10, a preparatory hearing for Tishchenko's case took place in the Dnipro court. He did not participate in it either in person or online.
