The Constitutional Court of Georgia has accepted the president's lawsuit seeking to annul the results of the parliamentary elections.

The Constitutional Court of Georgia has initiated proceedings regarding the lawsuit filed by the country's president, Salome Zourabichvili, seeking to annul the results of the parliamentary elections and to call for a new vote. This information was reported on the court's official website on November 20.
Конституционный суд Грузии рассмотрел иск президента о признании результатов парламентских выборов недействительными.

On November 19, Eka Beselia, the president's representative, announced the filing of a lawsuit, as reported by "Echo of the Caucasus".

"The first argument in the lawsuit is the violation of the universality of voting. The majority of emigrant citizens of Georgia were not given the opportunity to vote. The second is the violation of the constitutional right to the secrecy of the ballot," she stated.

While the lawsuit is being considered, the parliament will not be able to convene and approve the powers of the newly elected deputies, notes "Echo of the Caucasus."

The appeal to the Constitutional Court is part of the plan announced by Zurabishvili to lead the country out of the crisis, says Beselia. The president proposes to hold new elections, initiate an international investigation into the previous ones, complete the new composition of the Central Election Commission, and establish a special court to review electoral lawsuits.

Beselia emphasized that the filing of the lawsuit is important despite the lack of trust in the court from Zurabishvili's team. According to her, the president utilized a legal method to protect the constitutional rights of citizens.
