The video recording of Goncharenko's speech was published on his Facebook page on January 31.
"Killing Putin means a €30 reduction in electricity bills every month for every German. This is very important. Killing Putin translates to a €100 monthly savings on fuel for every Hungarian. This is very important. Killing Putin means €1 less for every croissant in France. I believe this is very important," Goncharenko stated at the PACE. "These are concrete matters, and we must show people why this needs to be done. This is not just our blind desire for revenge. This is the best possible investment we can make. The best investment in the world today is to kill Putin."
Later, Goncharenko explained the rationale behind his speech on Facebook.
"For ten years, we have been telling Europeans about [Nazi Germany leader Adolf] Hitler and Putin, about the struggle for human rights, freedom, independence, rules, and international treaties. The result is there. We are receiving help and support, but not as much as we would like. Therefore, I think it makes sense to try to move away from lofty topics and focus on issues that everyone understands," the MP wrote.
He noted that in Germany, for example, utility costs have risen by an average of €30 over the past two years.
"So because of the war, every German pays €30 more for utilities. And this is true everywhere. Thus, Putin's death is not only beneficial for us, but also for every German, Frenchman, Hungarian, Pole, and Bulgarian. This will impact their wallets. I believe this message is clearer and simpler," Goncharenko concluded.
