Ermak: Our sanctions team suggests setting the price for oil at $30 per barrel.

The head of the Office of the President of Ukraine, Andriy Yermak, announced on Telegram that the international working group on sanctions against the Russian Federation, which he leads alongside the director of the Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies, Ambassador Michael McFaul, believes that the price of oil from the aggressor country, Russia, should be capped at $30 per barrel.
Ермак: Наша команда по санкциям предлагает установить цену на нефть на уровне $30 за баррель.

"A strict price cap and further reduction in the price of Russian oil per barrel is a path to global security. Our sanctions group proposes to set the price at $30," wrote Yermak.

He emphasized that Yermak’s group – McFaul "fully supports U.S. President Donald Trump’s efforts to lower oil prices."

"The result of this will be a collapse of Russia's ability to finance the war," believes Yermak.

On January 23, Trump stated during a video address at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that he intends to ask Saudi Arabia and OPEC countries to lower oil prices. In his view, if prices decrease, Russia's war against Ukraine will come to a swift end. "As long as prices remain high, this war will continue. You can put an end to this war by lowering oil prices. This should have been done a long time ago. It was irresponsible on your part [not to lower prices]," Trump said.
