U.S. President Donald Trump has confidence in Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. This opinion was expressed by Valeriy Chaly, the chairman of the Ukrainian Crisis Media Center and Ukraine's ambassador to the U.S. from 2015 to 2019, during an interview with Alena Batsman, the editor-in-chief of the publication "GORDON."

The discussion about Meloni arose while talking about various politicians' interactions with Trump, particularly at his residence in Mar-a-Lago (Florida, USA).

"We had a delegation visit there, had a brief conversation. But as for attending any events, like the Italian Prime Minister Meloni did at Mar-a-Lago… By the way, she seems to have been invited to the inauguration now (she was present at the ceremony. – "GORDON")," said Chaly.

Batsman suggested that Meloni's visit to Trump in the USA before the inauguration was organized through billionaire Elon Musk.

"Donald Trump invited her to watch a new film about how he was pressured by criminal cases. She honestly endured this execution of the film. But do you understand how much this affects him? That he… But the fact that he offers her to watch it means he trusts her," said the former Ukrainian ambassador to the USA.

Chaly repeatedly emphasized that Trump has "a certain trust" in Meloni.

"From my perspective, Italy is emerging as a country, and its leadership, that could indeed be more… well, I don't want to say 'a mediator' in this context, but I see that there is such trust. There is such trust. And this is not about others who want to be friends with Trump. They jump around, claiming how they are just the best. Like the Prime Minister of Hungary. But this is genuinely what Trump likes," he noted.
