Russian media have reported that on the morning of November 21, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) attacked the "Kapustin Yar" military test site in the Astrakhan region of Russia. This test site, located in the city of Znamensk, is a key facility for the Russian strategic missile forces, and it was from here that a new ballistic missile "Kedr" was launched at the city of Dnipro early in the morning on November 21, 2024, according to "Vidomo," referencing Censor.NET.

The drone attack was a response to Russian aggression.

Specifically, as reported by the Russian Telegram channel Astra, it involved at least two drones that successfully bypassed air defense systems (ADS) and struck the 105th site of the test range.

Another two drones targeted the territory of military unit 15650 in Akhtubinsk.

This indicates certain issues within the Russian defense system.

While it is currently difficult to confirm the number and type of UAVs involved, the mere fact of breaching the defense and striking a strategically significant facility poses a serious challenge for the aggressor nation's military.

In turn, the head of the Astrakhan region attempted to downplay the scale of the attack, claiming that electronic warfare (EW) measures were taken and some UAVs were partially destroyed by air defense forces. He also mentioned a fire that allegedly occurred during the fall of a downed drone and stated there were no significant damages.

However, given the importance of the "Kapustin Yar" site and its strategic significance for the Russian missile forces, such statements raise certain doubts. It is likely that the aggressor is concealing the true extent of the damage inflicted by the UAV attack. This practice of underreporting losses and exaggerating successes has long been a prominent and distinguishing feature of Russian propaganda during the war in Ukraine.

The "Kapustin Yar" test site is a specialized scientific research complex designed for the testing and development of offensive and defensive weapon systems for all branches of the Russian army.

In the context of the war in Ukraine, the attack on this test site takes on special significance. The launch of the "Kedr" ballistic missile at Dnipro highlights the cynicism of Russian aggression and targeted terror against the civilian population.

Previously, we reported that Putin revealed which missile was used to strike Dnipro.
