It's essential to know how to properly and effectively eliminate mold, including tried-and-true home remedies. These are discussed in the article from MOYO.

How to Remove Mold from Walls — Effective Solutions

Baking Soda

To quickly eliminate mold from walls, you can use a simple and safe method involving baking soda. Baking soda not only cleans the surface but also prevents mold from returning due to its antiseptic properties.

How to use baking soda:

  1. Dissolve 1 tablespoon of baking soda in 1 liter of warm water.
  2. Stir until the baking soda is completely dissolved.
  3. Using a spray bottle, apply the solution to the mold-affected surface.
  4. Leave it for 10-15 minutes to allow the baking soda to take effect.
  5. Then gently scrub the wall with a sponge or brush and rinse off the residue with clean water.

For prevention, you can leave a light layer of the baking soda solution on the surface without rinsing it off to prevent mold from returning. This method is quite effective.

Vinegar

Another effective and natural remedy for combating mold. Due to its acidity, it kills up to 80% of mold spores and prevents their return.

How to use vinegar against mold:

  1. Pour undiluted white vinegar (9%) into a spray bottle.
  2. Spray the vinegar onto the mold-affected areas of the wall.
  3. Leave it on the surface for 1-2 hours to allow the vinegar to penetrate and eliminate the mold.
  4. Then wipe the wall with a damp cloth or sponge, rinsing away the residues.

For more durable protection against mold recurrence, you can repeat the vinegar treatment weekly or use it as a preventive measure. Vinegar leaves no harmful chemical residues, but it has a strong smell that dissipates quickly.

Ammonia

Ammonia also kills mold. However, it should be used with caution due to its strong odor and potential fumes.

How to use ammonia:

  1. Dilute ammonia with water in a 1:1 ratio.
  2. Apply the solution to the mold-affected areas.
  3. Leave it for 30 minutes, then thoroughly rinse the wall with water.

Important: never mix ammonia with bleach, as this can release toxic gases. It's best to use it in a well-ventilated area and wear protective gloves.
