The Ukrainian authorities do not intend to pressure citizens who have decided to leave for other countries due to the war.
This was stated by President Volodymyr Zelensky in an interview with journalists from Northern Europe.
According to him, while the state is in need of workforce, no one will pressure or encourage people to return.
“I can very loudly call on our Ukrainians who are abroad to come back, help, work in the defense industry, support our soldiers, pay taxes, and assist Ukraine. I can say this, and of course, I do so with pleasure. And, of course, we need their support,” he said.
At the same time, Zelensky added that the war has caused many different negative reasons for people to leave, and thus, he will not push them to return.
Recall that in August, media reported that the president allegedly tried to persuade Western leaders to assist in the return of men of conscription age to Ukraine, but was met with refusal.
Earlier, Zelensky also stated that the government intends to create a specialized "Ministry of Unity" to facilitate the return of its citizens from abroad. This, along with bringing businesses and workers out of the "shadow," is expected to support the country's economy after the war.
