President Volodymyr Zelensky's speech at the European Political Community summit in Budapest was not shown in the official broadcast of the event.
This was reported by Radio Free Europe.
It is noteworthy that Zelensky spoke immediately after Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, who opened the summit. Following the Ukrainian president, French leader Emmanuel Macron took the floor.
“Macron and Orban's speeches were broadcast live and posted online, while Zelensky's speech was neither shown nor published,” journalists state.
A representative from the Hungarian side explained that Zelensky's speech “was not public; however, footage was provided to the president's team.” Meanwhile, representatives from the Ukrainian authorities claim that this is a false assertion.
“Presidential speeches are always public if it is stipulated by the event format. We did not make any requests to refrain from broadcasting or publishing the speech,” the response stated.
It is important to note that this is Zelensky's first visit to Hungary since the full-scale Russian invasion.
Earlier, Zelensky stated that Ukraine and Hungary are working on preparing a bilateral document aimed at improving relations between the two countries.
