On Saturday, January 11, a serious accident occurred at the "Gare de Strasbourg" station, where two trams collided due to a directional error.
This was reported by BFMTV.
According to police, approximately 50 people were injured in the incident, with 15 of them evacuated to the hospital.
A large group of rescuers, totaling 130 individuals, as well as civil security personnel, arrived promptly at the accident site. The Strasbourg City Hall stated that as of 5:30 PM, there were no fatalities reported, and the injured are in stable condition.
Strasbourg Mayor Jeanne Barseghian, who was present at the scene, noted that the collision was due to a "clear head-on impact," as one of the trams was moving in reverse. The causes of the incident are currently being investigated.
The accident caused significant disruptions in public transport services. Replacement buses were organized on-site to assist with passenger transportation.
Recall that in August, on Hlybochytska Street in Kyiv, a tram at full speed collided with about ten cars and crashed into another tram. Six people were injured.
Additionally, on Thursday, December 26, in Norway, a bus with 58 passengers veered into a lake and overturned. At least three fatalities have been reported.
