On Saturday, November 9, the passing of the renowned Ukrainian boxer and television host Vyacheslav Uzhelkov was announced.

This news was shared by the Ukrainian Boxing Federation on Facebook.

With deep sadness, we announce that Ukrainian boxing has suffered a significant loss – Vyacheslav Uzhelkov has passed away. His name will forever remain in the history of sports, and his example of strength, resilience, and dedication to his craft will inspire future generations,” the statement reads.

It is known that he recently underwent heart surgery and was in rehabilitation.

Vyacheslav Uzhelkov was born in Vinnytsia. In his first match in 2012, he defeated Russian Suleiman Dzherilov. Uzhelkov ended his career in 2013 and subsequently became a television host, notably appearing on shows such as “Ukraine's Got Talent” and “Weighed and Happy.”

In 2020, he ran for mayor of Vinnytsia from the OPZZh party, but received only 4% of the votes.

It was also reported that on April 29, former head coach of the Ukrainian national football team Mikhail Fomenko passed away at the age of 75.

On June 2, during a combat mission, sports gymnastics master and coach Konstantin Chernikov was killed. He served as a drone pilot on the front lines.
