The Ukrainian military struck Russian territory with ATACMS ballistic missiles for the first time tonight, November 19.
This information was shared with RBK-Ukraine by a source within the Defense Forces.
According to him, the strike targeted a military facility near the city of Karachev in the Bryansk region: “Indeed, for the first time, ATACMS were used to strike Russian territory. The strike was aimed at a facility in Bryansk region, and it was successfully hit.”
This information is also confirmed by journalist Yuriy Butusov. “And today, yet another 'brown line' of the Kremlin has been crossed. Now the whole world will watch to see if Putin will take any action,” he wrote on Facebook.
Recall that the General Staff confirmed that the Armed Forces of Ukraine struck an arsenal of the 1046 Material Technical Support Center in the Karachev area of Bryansk region last night.
Earlier, The New York Times reported that US President Joe Biden had sanctioned Ukraine's use of long-range ATACMS missiles against Russian territory for the first time. According to media sources, Britain and France also granted permission for Ukraine to use Storm Shadow/SCALP long-range missiles against targets in Russia, but only in the Kursk region.
Today, Putin approved an updated nuclear doctrine for Russia, which expands the conditions for the use of corresponding weapons.
