Hungary has not discussed the possibility of establishing a ceasefire with Russia for Christmas with Ukraine.
This was stated by the President's advisor for communications, Dmitry Litvin, as reported by Interfax-Ukraine.
According to him, the Hungarian side also did not inform Kyiv about its contacts with Moscow, and Ukraine did not authorize Budapest to act on its behalf.
Litvin added that the authorities are working daily on the release of prisoners, “and negotiations regarding a significant exchange have been ongoing for two weeks, aiming for completion by the end of the year.”
“As always, we are committed to achieving a full peace and are coordinating efforts with partners to reach this goal, alongside America, Europe, and other global partners. As always, we need not publicity, but a just peace, and not mere talk, but reliable security guarantees,” noted Litvin.
We remind you that today Orban stated that he offered Zelensky to establish a “Christmas ceasefire” and conduct a large-scale prisoner exchange, but he refused.
It is also known that the Hungarian Prime Minister today called the Russian dictator Vladimir Putin. The parties discussed economic cooperation between Russia and Hungary, as well as the war in Ukraine.
Zelensky, commenting on the call, expressed hope that Orban “would not at least call Assad in Moscow to listen to his lengthy lectures.”
