The newly elected President of the United States, Donald Trump, has distanced himself from the statements made by his associate regarding a peace plan for Ukraine.
This was reported by Reuters.
On Saturday, November 9, a spokesperson for Donald Trump's transition team stated that Republican strategist Brian Lanza does not represent the official position of the president.
It is known that Lanza, who served as a consultant in Trump's 2024 campaign, mentioned in an interview with the BBC that the Trump administration would encourage Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to adopt a "realistic vision of peace" and focus on establishing it rather than reclaiming lost territories, particularly Crimea.
A representative of Trump's transition team, who wished to remain anonymous, emphasized that Lanza does not represent the official stance of the president. The transition team continues to select personnel and develop policy plans that Trump may adopt during his second term.
It is worth noting that the teams of Zelensky and Trump have agreed to begin preparations for their meeting. It is known that a dialogue between the leaders has already been established, as evidenced by the swift nature of their phone conversation following the elections.
Earlier reports also indicated that billionaire Elon Musk participated in a phone call between Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky. Following that, Musk expressed the opinion that the war between Russia and Ukraine will soon come to an end.
