The actual composition of the Verkhovna Rada is about 360 members of parliament.
This was announced by the parliament speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk in an interview with “Suspilne”.
“From these 400 (the number of the Rada – ed.), subtract 30-40 men – and that will be the real composition of the parliament today,” said Stefanchuk.
According to him, he analyzes the attendance of members of parliament every month: “... I ask them to engage in fulfilling parliamentary duties because the oath of a member of parliament, which they took, includes working for the benefit of the Ukrainian people, and they must be present in the chamber to make specific decisions.”
Stefanchuk also suggested that after the war ends, the activities of the Rada will be optimized, including a reduction in the number of deputies: “Perhaps, after the war ends, because during martial law we cannot make changes to the Constitution, we will return to the issue of optimizing the parliament's activities.”
Recall that on December 6, two new members of parliament took the oath in the Rada. Now there are 401 parliamentarians.
Earlier, “Slovo i Dilo” reported who and when promised to reduce the number of MPs in Ukraine.
