The Security Service and police thwarted an explosion in the center of Zhytomyr near the administrative building and the Alley of Glory of Heroes. The terrorist act was being prepared by a local teenager at the behest of Russia.
This was reported by the press service of the SBU on Telegram.

According to law enforcement, the explosion was to be organized by a 16-year-old schoolboy from the Zhytomyr region – Russians had involved him in criminal activity in exchange for money.
He independently manufactured the explosive device following instructions from a Russian handler and filled it with metal screws to enhance its destructive effect.
“As the investigation established, the underage terrorist was supposed to leave a homemade explosive device (HED) disguised in a backpack on the Alley. At that moment, the occupiers planned to remotely detonate the explosive along with their agent. Thus, the Russian special service hoped to achieve two goals: carry out a bloody terrorist act with numerous casualties and eliminate their agent as a ‘superfluous witness,’” the SBU indicated.
Counterintelligence officers uncovered the enemy's plans and detained the perpetrator when he was already near the site of the planned terrorist act.
The SBU is preparing charges against the teenager under Part 1 of Article 14 and Part 2 of Article 258 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (preparation for committing a terrorist act), which could result in up to 12 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
Recall that the day before, the Security Service detained an FSB agent in Kropyvnytskyi who was preparing a series of arsons at key energy facilities in the region to cut off power to local military units and medical institutions.
It was also reported that two FSB agents were detained near Kyiv who were planning terrorist acts targeting the police, TCK, and the prosecutor's office.
