On Sunday, January 12, a parliamentary delegation from Slovakia traveled to Russia to discuss gas supplies.
This was reported by the TASR publication.
The delegation is led by the Vice Speakers of the Slovak Parliament, Andrej Danko and Tibor Gašpar. It includes deputies Marián Kéry, Ján Mazgút, Richard Gluk, and Adam Lučanský. On Wednesday, January 15, they plan to meet with representatives of the State Duma of Russia.
It is known that the Poles have closed their airspace to the delegation, so their flight is routed through the Czech Republic and Germany.
The negotiations are expected to focus on the supply of natural gas to Slovakia and the war in Ukraine. In particular, the delegation wants to inquire whether Russian "Gazprom" can supply gas to Slovakia despite the cessation of transit through Ukraine.
It should be noted that on Sunday, December 22, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico visited Moscow, where he met with Vladimir Putin. According to Fico, this trip was a response to Ukraine's position on the transit of Russian gas to Europe.
The General Prosecutor's Office of Slovakia reported that it will investigate the Prime Minister's visit to Russia for compliance with the law.
