The Parliament of Canada has approved a decision to allocate 764 million Canadian dollars (approximately 587 million USD) for military assistance to Ukraine.
This was reported by Ukrinform on Wednesday, December 11.
It is reported that this funding is part of a larger package of additional expenditures, which includes 21 billion Canadian dollars (approximately 14.4 billion USD) for various purposes, including strengthening national defense.
Canadian Defense Minister Bill Blair clarified that the funds will be directed towards ammunition, training for Ukrainian soldiers, and other necessary resources to ensure Ukraine's victory.
The document adopted by Parliament also allocates 400 million Canadian dollars (307 million USD) in financial aid to Ukraine through a special IMF account and 45 million Canadian dollars (35 million USD) for humanitarian demining and enhancing cybersecurity.
The budget expenditures were approved on the last day permitted by law. The decision is now expected to receive support from a vote in the Canadian Senate in the near future.
It is worth noting that Canada plans to transfer to Ukraine a portion of prohibited firearms. In November, a NASAMS air defense system from Canada arrived in Ukraine.
