The Cabinet of Ministers made a decision on December 10 to expand and update the "Affordable Medicines" program.
This was announced in a statement by Prime Minister Denis Shmyhal on Telegram.
The changes include the addition of 30 new medicines to the list. These are medications for rheumatological, neurological, ophthalmological, and endocrinological diseases.
Now, "Affordable Medicines" will also be available for children. Additionally, the program will include:
the addition of medicines in the form of drops and ointments;
an expansion of the network of pharmacies involved in the program (hospitals will also join the program);
pharmacies are required to offer customers the initial medications at the lowest price, considering the active ingredient.
"Over the past 5 years, more than 5 million Ukrainians have benefited from the program, with 15,000 pharmacies connected, and nearly 600 medications available. Additionally, the state budget for 2025 allocates 6.6 billion UAH for the 'Even More Affordable Medicines' program," Shmyhal noted.
It is important to remember that the "Affordable Medicines" program was introduced in Ukraine even before the large-scale war. Through this program, citizens can obtain free medications. For details on who can receive free medicines for outpatient and inpatient treatment, see the article by "Slovo i Delo".
Ukrainians will also be able to spend 1000 hryvnias on Ukrainian medicines, which can be received this winter by all Ukrainians under the "Winter Support" program.
