According to Shlapka, the proposal includes a ban on aluminum imports from Russia, sanctions against the "shadow fleet," and measures targeting the Russian financial sector. However, the expected ban on imports of Russian liquefied natural gas, anticipated by many member states, was not included in the list. Nevertheless, even without it, the announced restrictions will significantly impact the aggressor, the minister noted.
"I still consider these sanctions to be very ambitious and painful for the Russian economy," Shlapka stated, adding that the European Commission's proposal will also complicate the evasion of restrictions by certain individuals and companies in Russia.
The minister also promised that Poland, which currently holds the presidency in the EU, will work towards the swift adoption of the package.
