Tymoshenko believes that due to the war, Ukraine has almost completely lost its sovereignty. She drew attention to the threat posed by the draft law №7662, which concerns the improvement of the procedure for selecting candidates for positions on the Constitutional Court of Ukraine.
"From now on, judges of the Constitutional Court, who are supposed to be appointed by the president, parliament, or the congress of judges according to the Constitution, will be pre-selected by an international council. The president, parliament, and the congress of judges will only formally approve the appointments determined outside of Ukraine. Thus, Ukraine has become the first and only country in the world where the Constitutional Court is formed by unknown international players outside the state. This is a blatant violation of international law, equating Ukraine's treatment to that of a lawless colony. No one has the right to act against Ukraine in this manner, and no one should allow it. This law must be repealed immediately," stated the leader of "Batkivshchyna."
She expressed concern about Ukraine becoming a "raw appendage" and stated that this is already leading to serious consequences. According to Tymoshenko, there is a process of deindustrialization, destruction of farming, and the disappearance of villages from the map of Ukraine, forcing people to leave due to the lack of opportunities to work and support their families.
"This process is economic stagnation, which is turning us into a country without a future," the politician said.
Tymoshenko highlighted the issue of selling natural resources, noting that key minerals are already at risk of being handed over to international corporations.
"Titanium, lithium, graphite, zirconium, uranium, germanium, gold are valued at hundreds of trillions of dollars. And how are these riches being managed? In the last parliamentary days before Christmas, the majority finally passed the draft law №6227. An additional amendment allowed these minerals to be handed over for pennies to international corporations. Moreover, they chose the most primitive path – to sell this raw material," emphasized the head of the political force.
As an alternative, Tymoshenko suggested emulating the experiences of Norway and Poland.
"Norway, by opening its oil and gas reserves, created a fund for future generations, investing these funds in education, science, and infrastructure development. Poland, upon joining the EU, not only maintained control over its resources but also compelled investors to establish production within the country. This creates millions of jobs. This is an example of how to protect national interests and build a strong state," she stated.
Tymoshenko announced that the "Batkivshchyna" team has submitted a statement to the Constitutional Court aimed at repealing laws that strip Ukraine of its sovereignty and allow international corporations to manage Ukrainian resources.
"We also have a prepared statement regarding a crime to the National Anti-Corruption Bureau concerning an illegal corrupt deal with the titanium-zirconium industry, which was sold for pennies while it is worth billions of dollars. We are now preparing a similar statement regarding the corrupt squandering of our lithium deposits," Tymoshenko reported.
