On December 26, this issue will be reviewed by the university's ethics commission. Preliminary decisions have already been made, according to reports – the instructor will receive a second reprimand followed by dismissal by the end of the year. The first reprimand was issued to Vasilenko about a year ago.
On December 23, during a broadcast on the Russian propaganda outlet politnavigator.net (blocked in Ukraine), he stated that "the presence of foreign soldiers in Ukraine will improve the demographic situation".
"Imagine this: at least 40,000 men with money, 'hungry' for women. Those who have not faced the front, raised on good European products. And hundreds of thousands of 'hungry' Ukrainian women, who for various reasons have not been able to leave, whose men have died in the war or have been injured," – quoted Vasilenko's words the Institute of Mass Information.
The Commissioner of the Verkhovna Rada for Human Rights, Dmytro Lubinets, condemned the professor's statements on the same day and announced he would contact the Security Service of Ukraine.
The Minister of Education and Science of Ukraine, Oksen Lisovyi, described the professor's remarks as "unacceptable" on December 24.
