The judge made her decision just minutes before the budget office's directive was set to take effect, the publication reports. The ban will remain in place until the evening of February 3.
Until that time, the White House cannot suspend the disbursement of any funds already allocated by Congress. The judge described this move as a "temporary administrative stay," aimed at maintaining the status quo during ongoing legal proceedings.
"I believe there is a threat of irreparable harm," the judge is quoted by Politico, noting that she was appointed by former president Joe Biden.
