A convoy of police vehicles left the presidential complex and likely transported Yoon Suk Yeol to the corruption investigation agency for high-ranking officials in the city of Gwacheon, reports Associated Press.
Three hours earlier, there was another attempt to arrest the politician, but at that time, presidential security obstructed the detention by blocking access to the complex with barricades made of buses and barbed wire, the report notes.
The Chinese agency Xinhua claims that law enforcement overcame the barricades using ladders, and in addition to the security personnel, members of the ruling party "People Power" were involved in the confrontation. Investigators who arrested the president engaged in a "physical altercation" with Yoon Suk Yeol's security service, the media writes.
