Xi Jinping and Putin held an online conversation following Trump's inauguration.

On January 21, Chinese leader Xi Jinping held a video call with the illegitimate president of the aggressor nation, Russia, Vladimir Putin. The Kremlin's press service shared the video on Telegram.
Си Цзиньпин и Путин обсудили вопросы в онлайн-формате после инаугурации Трампа.

The video shows Putin waving to the Chinese leader, referring to him as a "dear friend," and calling the call a "good tradition at the start of each year."

According to Putin, he and the Chinese head are discussing new plans for the development of a comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between the two countries, as both Beijing and Moscow allegedly advocate for a more "just multipolar world order." Their ties will not depend on domestic political factors or the prevailing global situation, noted the illegitimate Russian president.

"We coordinate our actions on other multilateral platforms – in the United Nations and its Security Council, the SCO, the G20, and APEC," Putin said.

He reported that over the 11 months of the previous year, the trade turnover between China and Russia increased by 7% and reached over $220 billion. Putin referred to Russia as "China's fifth trading partner."

The conversation between the two politicians took place the day after the inauguration of the new U.S. president, Donald Trump.

At the beginning of January, Trump stated that he had already communicated through representatives with the Chinese leader and believes they will find common ground. Additionally, the American and Chinese politicians had a phone call prior to the inauguration of the new head of the White House, during which they also exchanged views on the war in Ukraine.

After the inauguration, Trump announced that he plans to meet with Putin, but he assumes that the Russian politician may not be ready to agree on ending the war that he initiated against Ukraine.
