The Prime Minister of Greenland responded to Trump's remarks about wanting to take control of the island.

Greenland's Prime Minister Mute Egede responded to the statement made by U.S. President-elect Donald Trump regarding his interest in acquiring control over the island. This was reported by Reuters on December 23.

"We are not for sale and we will never be for sale," said the head of the government of the autonomous region that is part of Denmark. Greenland will not lose its "long struggle for freedom," he emphasized.

The Danish government stated that it "looks forward to meeting the new American ambassador and hopes for cooperation with the new administration," according to Deutsche Welle.

"In the complex political security situation we are currently experiencing, transatlantic cooperation is crucial," the country's authorities noted, adding that Greenland "is not for sale," but "is open to cooperation."
