As noted by the newspaper, the newly elected U.S. President Donald Trump shook hands with all his opponents.
The publication highlighted that when the 44th President of America, Barack Obama, approached to greet Trump, the Republican allegedly did not even stand up. However, once seated, the politicians engaged in a friendly conversation, despite their long-standing rivalry.
Lip-reading expert Jeremy Friedman told New York Post that Trump, likely fearing the attention of cameras, warned Obama that they would need to "find a quiet place" later that day to discuss "an important matter."
In published photos, Obama can be seen laughing at what Trump was saying. Their interaction lasted several minutes before the start of the funeral procession.
According to The Hill, for a long time, Trump claimed that Obama was allegedly not born in the U.S., and therefore was not eligible to run for the presidency. Trump also repeatedly accused him of spying during the 2016 election campaign.
Obama referred to Trump as "a threat to democracy" and "a bully" during the elections in 2016, 2020, and 2024.
Additionally, Obama mocked Trump during the White House Correspondents' Association dinner in 2011, when the Republican announced his intention to run for president, as reported by the media.
