Trump's assertion that he could have done something was described by Kuleba as "a very hypothetical assumption."
"This brings us to a fundamental question: could this war have been avoided at all, regardless of who the U.S. president is? I have spent a great deal of time searching for an answer to it, because when a war starts, it means diplomacy has failed... I have come to the conclusion that I think this war was inevitable," Kuleba stated.
According to him, it could have been delayed for months or even years, but ultimately, the illegitimate president of Russia, Vladimir Putin, would have decided to invade Ukraine regardless.
"From everything he learned about the West, it was expected that the West would not respond appropriately to his invasion. He was wrong in that regard, but we are still where we are... We could have found ourselves in a much better position if the approach of avoiding escalation had not been the dominant line of thinking not only in Washington but also in some European capitals," Kuleba added.
