Biden has extended the temporary protection program for Ukrainians until 2026. Reports suggest that Trump may have the power to revoke it.

The outgoing administration of U.S. President Joe Biden has extended the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) program for citizens of Ukraine, El Salvador, Sudan, and Venezuela. This information is reported on the website of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
Байден продлил программу временной защиты украинцев до 2026 года. СМИ предполагают, что Трамп может отменить эту инициативу.

The decision allows them to remain on American soil with work permits and protection from deportation until 2026. Approximately 1 million individuals are covered under the program.

The American publication Politico reports that around 1 million people are included in the program. The elected president of the United States, who will take office on January 20, is likely to reduce the duration of TPS, as the incoming president intends to implement stricter immigration policies and commence mass deportations, according to the publication.

U.S. legislation states that the program can be terminated by the Secretary of Health within 60 days of a government decision on the matter. The extension approved by Biden may delay Trump's attempts to end it. During his first term, Trump sought to revoke TPS protection for hundreds of thousands of immigrants, but was hindered by legal challenges, Politico notes.
